About Us

Welcome to The Old Rectory which is located in Clocaenog near Ruthin, North Wales. We offer both Bed & Breakfast and Self Catering accommodation.

We have received our ‘We’re Good to Go’ accreditation from Visit Wales.. There may be some minor changes to our service, but this is to ensure the safety of all guests and ourselves.  If you do have any questions or would like a copy of our Covid-19 information for guests, please get in touch.

The Old Rectory is just 4 miles from the historic market town of Ruthin in the county of Denbighshire.

Catherine, Michael & daughter Katie invite you to stay and enjoy our renovated family home which dates back to 1832.  The B&B has been offering four star Visit Wales Bed and Breakfast accommodation since 2009 and is set in beautiful rolling countryside near the picturesque town of Ruthin, North Wales.

The annexe has also undergone a refurbishment during 2015 and we are now able to offer guests the option of a self-catering cottage which adjoins the main house.

The Old Rectory is located on the edge of Clocaenog Forest in the Hiraethog area of North Wales and we are close to Llyn Brenig and the Alwen Reservoir.  For those who are more adventurous we are just a short drive from the Clwydian Range, Snowdonia National Park, the North Wales coast, the Dee Valley, Ruthin, Llangollen, Mold, Chester and Wrexham. We have, on our doorstep an amazing range of activities, things to do and places to see.

Guests at The Old Rectory can be assured that they will receive a warm welcome and be made to feel at home.  All our guest bedrooms in the main house are en-suite.  The B&B rooms and holiday cottage provide an ideal relaxed atmosphere for both long and short-stay guests.  Our accommodation is non-smoking and you will find every facility, including Wi-Fi to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable.

Bed & Breakfast guests also have use of a designated lounge where they can relax during their stay. On arrival, we will welcome you with tea/coffee and homemade cakes or cookies.

We are delighted to have been awarded our 9th Trip Advisor Certificates of Excellence in 2020.

  • I can't remember how many times I've stayed with Catherine and Mike. It is simply home away from home.
Clipper fair trade hot chocolate in my room is a good place to start!
Opening my window in the morning, winter sun - just - on the hill opposite, the only sound, the stream outside.
Homemade bread, a host who clearly cares about their guests - simple things make this place special.
    Thank you again.
